Digital experience company Acquia has announced it is bolstering its EMEA sales and marketing team with two new hires who will complement the company’s strategic direction under new CEO Mike Sullivan.
Acquia appointed sales veteran Steve Williamson as the company’s new sales SVP in EMEA. With more than 30 years in tech sales, Williamson brings a vast amount of expertise to the business, and will focus on significantly increasing the company’s sales footprint and focus in EMEA.
Prior to joining Acquia, Williamson worked for Salesforce, where he started as a senior director of sales — before becoming senior director for northern Europe and then finally associate VP for western Europe and emerging markets. During his time at Salesforce, Williamson oversaw the region’s treble-digital growth and expanding customer base from 10 to more than 130. Previous roles also include senior sales roles at EMC, BMC, and Oracle.
Williamson said: “I believe Acquia to be one of the brightest innovators in digital experience and cloud technology. The company has a clear vision to transform the customer experience for thousands of its customers.
“This is a great time to join. The company has recently expanded its Acquia Platform, building upon core capabilities — namely with multisite management and personalisation — to support data-driven, personalised customer journeys.”
Acquia customers include Cancer Research UK, Hiscox, LV=Liverpool Victoria, Brighton & Hove City Council, Interflora Denmark, and Stage Entertainment.
Acquia has also hired a new VP of marketing in EMEA in Sylvia Jensen. Jensen joins Acquia from the Oracle Marketing Cloud, where she was senior director of EMEA marketing leading the team focused on martech within Oracle’s broad product portfolio. In her new role, Jensen will focus on creating both awareness and demand generation for Acquia’s brand, product and services within key markets as part of Acquia’s regional growth strategy. Prior to Acquia, Jensen has also held senior marketing roles at Eloqua, WebEx and Coremetrics in Europe.
Acquia CEO Mike Sullivan said: “In 2018, Acquia will continue be a strong partner to the Drupal community, as we continue to focus on supporting customers and their strategic digital initiatives.
“Steve and Sylvia both join the company at a tremendous point in its evolution, and both bring a huge amount of experience and expertise to their respective roles. They will form a key part in driving our own company growth as we move into data-driven customer journeys, and focus on creating cloud technology that solves the biggest challenges global organisations are facing today.”
Williamson holds an MBA from the Open University. Jensen graduated from the University of California, Berkeley, where she majored in political economy, and received a master’s degree in international business from the University of California, San Diego.
