Appshaker helps Guinness book come alive at Westfield Stratford

Guinness World Records, the official authority on record-breaking achievement, launches its first-ever immersive AR experience today, enabling consumers to come face-to-face with some of history’s most iconic record holders.

Guinness World Records will host its live interactive video experience from Thursday 1st to Sunday 4th November, exclusively at Westfield Stratford, to promote the latest Guinness World Records 2013 edition. The AR show has been created and custom built by AR specialists Appshaker.

The immersive 3D event, one of Appshaker’s boldest and most innovative to date, will provide thousands of shoppers with an opportunity to interact the world’s tallest man (8ft 2in) as he hosts the Guinness World Records AR show, as well as the chance to be chased by the world’s Largest predatory fish (a 53ft long Great White shark, with a mouth 6ft wide!) and stand between the world’s heaviest twins (professional wrestlers with a combined weight of 104 stone). Consumers will be able to shares images and video content of them interacting with the live AR experience directly from the event via social media

The installation uses the latest 3D augmented technology and mirrors the mobile AR features which have been integrated with the pages of the new Guinness World Records 2013 book. Both AR elements bring an incredible variety of record-breakers to life, whether standing next to the world’s longest ever dinosaur (Amphicoelias, over 60m long) at the live Westfield event or watching the shortest man (72-year old Chandra Dangi who stands 21.5 inches tall) stroll across the pages of a Guinness World Records book.
