Hardys Wine brings Stuart Broad back to his roots

Hardys, the Official Wine of England Cricket, took England star Stuart Broad back to his roots as he helped the wine brand kick off an initiative which will see it champion those who are the heartbeat of their local cricket club.
Each month this summer, Hardys will feature someone who is the driving force – or heartbeat – of their local club in the Cricketer Magazine and reward them for their unstinting work with a selection of Hardys wine. This activity will culminate at the end of the 2016 season with the overall Heartbeat of the Club, supported by Hardys, being announced by Stuart Broad at the NatWest OSCAs.
Egerton Park CC in Melton Mowbray, Stuart Broad’s first cricket club, hosted the launch of the activation. Hardys reunited Broad with David Glover – his former captain in the 2nd XI and the club’s chairman and driving force – and both will feature in a grassroots ATL campaign, as well as in content to be released throughout the summer.
The summer of 2016 will be the third year of Hardys’ partnership with England Cricket and, having established itself within the game at the elite level, the new season will see the brand reach further unto the grassroots game with heartbeat of the club initiative.
Stuart Broad, Hardys Ambassador and England fast-bowler, said: “I’m delighted to be helping Hardys launch their search for the heartbeats of local cricket clubs. Having begun my cricket journey at Egerton Park CC I know first-hand the role grassroots club play in our game, and, in particular, the value of people like David Glover, who is the driving force of the club.”
David Glover, Egerton Park CC Chairman, said: “Egerton Park is extremely proud to say that Stuart Broad began his cricketing journey with us. As a chairman of a grassroots club it’s brilliant that Hardys are championing the volunteers across the country who devote countless hours to supporting the game they love.”
Amy White, Hardys Wine Marketing Director, said: “After two successful years as a proud sponsor of English cricket Hardys knows how fundamental the grassroots game is to the sport in this country. This year, we are very excited to be championing and rewarding those that go above and beyond for their local team and we look forward to reading all the nominations from clubs up and down the country.”
