TCC appoints Lars Olofsson

TCC, the leader in retail marketing programmes, has appointed retail heavyweight Lars Olofsson as chairman of its Board.

Olofsson – who most recently served as CEO and executive chairman at Carrefour from 2009-2012 – has had a long and established career in the retail and FMCG space, bringing deep insight into the retail landscape to TCC.

The move is part of a strategy to strengthen TCC, preparing it for further growth as a fully independent and privately owned company.

TCC’s founders – Richard Beattie, Gordon Cooper and Mike Davis – who led the company with Mark Siggers from 1991 have now stepped aside from operational leadership, but remain close to the company as non-executive Board members.

The appointment of Olofsson builds on the arrival of Michael Ioakimides as TCC’s CEO in 2012, from his previous role at Dyson.

Richard Beattie, TCC’s former Chairman, said of the new appointment: ‘We are extremely pleased Lars is joining TCC. He brings a wealth of retail and FMCG insight and experience globally to the TCC Board and we are all looking forward to working with him to support TCC’s future development.’

Commenting on his move to join TCC, Lars Olofsson said: ‘TCC is a fascinating and impressive company, operating at the forefront of retail marketing to develop solutions that genuinely help retailers increase sales by changing shopper behaviour. It is an exciting time for TCC and the retail industry – and I’m very much looking forward to joining the board and supporting TCC’s future growth.’

Before joining Carrefour, Olofsson spent 32 years at Nestlé as Global EVP, and served as head of Zone Europe and head of Strategic Business Units. He currently holds non-executive positions at Axel Johnson AB, Axfood AB and Compass/Bata Shoes.
