The Grotto and ice skating return to Westfield this Christmas

skating-westfield-littleWestfield has announced its programme of activities for the festive season.  In the lead up to Christmas, Westfield aims to build on the excitement and the anticipation with activities around shopping and eating, ice-skating and present buying.  The Christmas season at Westfield London and Westfield Stratford City will kick off with a line up of events and experiences including ice-skating, an ‘Adventure to Santa’s Grotto’, Christmas shopping events, Christmas Choirs, special breakfasts and Christmas Jumper Day.

This Christmas, Westfield will unveil a new festive experience that will take families on a journey to the North Pole accompanied by Po, the Kung-Fu Panda, and friends. The new Grotto at Westfield London and Stratford City – Adventure to Santa’s Grotto, A DreamWorks DreamPlace – takes visitors through interactive and personalised activities on their adventure to Santa.  Brought to life by DreamWorks Animation, Adventure to Santa’s Grotto concept combines storytelling and humour.

The approach of winter heralds the return of Westfield London’s indoor ice rink presented by, fashion and leather goods brand, Coach, who celebrate their 75th anniversary this year.  Featuring Rexy, the recognisable Coach dinosaur, the ice rink will be Located in the Atrium event space, the 500 square-metre ice rink boasts an impressive festive backdrop and after dark, lighting and live music adds to the ambience

For over six weeks, the ice rink, made of real ice, will host themed sessions. Skaters can soak up the sounds of a live DJ from Thursday to Sunday each week and enjoy special music performances on the Westfield Presents stage located on the ice rink. For families, a range of entertainment will be on offer for all ages, and penguin and seal-themed skating aids will be available to hire for children as young as 3 to join in the fun.

Coach will take two areas. One will be at the front of ‘Skate in Style’ – a lounge area where consumers will be able to experience the brand and the product range, whilst watching the skaters. The second area is outside their store – specifically a retail area. The plan is to have a personalisation area where consumers will be able to get products they have bought personalised on the spot.

Chloe, the French fashion house, will also be providing a personal gift wrapping station located in Westfield London’s Village, where shoppers are able to have their gifts wrapped and ready to put under the tree.
