Nicorette launches ‘One Breath’ to inspire those trying to quit smoking

Johnson & Johnson has created “One Breath”, a new campaign for Nicorette, which will coincide with Stoptober in the UK. The online film will run on YouTube and Facebook, and aims to inspire those trying to quit, by reminding them that it’s a difficult but  rewarding achievement.

Following the success of Nicorette’s ‘Achieving the Incredible’ story of amateur marathon runner Mark Cooper, “One Breath” tells the story of Daan Verhoeven, a former smoker turned professional free diver. Having broken several national records after he quit smoking, Daan can hold his breath for over 6 minutes. This film shows him free diving 64 meters into the ocean as he describes the physical and emotional sensations and how giving up smoking has allowed him to achieve this.

As the film starts Daan makes his way out to the free dive spot, describing his personal difficulties with quitting smoking, and how, after his father died from lung cancer, he managed to finally break the habit and immediately felt healthier.

The film follows him down on a dive and Daan describes the effects on the body as he descends further into the depths. He speaks about how his life has changed since quitting smoking and how he now views the decision as a ‘gift’ to himself. He slowly begins to ascend back up to the surface and the viewer is left with the ‘Do Something Incredible’ Nicorette sign off.

Beyond the Nicorette YouTube channel and presence across the Nicorette website and Facebook, the film is also supported by a 360 Video where viewers can experience free diving with Daan interactively.  The content communicates the benefits of quitting smoking via titles and Daan’s voiceover.
