Intu Metrocentre and intu Eldon Square are running the Big intu Clothes Drop, asking shoppers to donate work wear which will be used by homeless charity Centrepoint to distribute to young people attending job interviews
Faye Tozer, of pop group Steps, has donated a champagne coloured dress, which she wore on the red carpet at a UK’s creative industries Reception held at London’s Royal Academy of Arts.
“This is a fantastic cause and I’m delighted to be able to help,” said Faye.
Faye’s donation is to be auctioned on eBay alongside two dresses provided by Geordie songstress Cheryl Fernandez-Versini, plus a range of items provided by TV and radio presenters and other celebrities across the region.
Members of the public were able to help the charity, by dropping items into giant Perspex clothes collection banks at intu Eldon and intu Metrocentre (between 26-29 March), to coincide with the shopping centres’ spring/summer fashion shows, in association with Hello! Fashion Monthly.
The money raised will go directly to Centrepoint in the North East, which supports around 800 homeless people.
