Sipsmith and Ham Yard Hotel team up for immersive pop-up

Passionate pioneers of London’s artisan gin renaissance, Sipsmith, famous for its London Dry Gin, has teamed up with Ham Yard Hotel in the heart of Soho to serve historically gin-laced winter warmers on the hotel’s hidden roof terrace from the end of January until mid-February 2016.
Transporting the enchantment of London winters past to modern day, creative duo Sipsmith master distiller Jared Brown and Ham Yard Hotel bar manager Eoin Kenny have delved into London drinking past – from as early as the 16th century right through to the 1920s – to craft a very modern sipping menu.
Warm serves will include The Smoking Bishop, which was a favourite of Charles Dickens; The Original, which is a pairing of gin with gingerbread, noted as the first London pairing during the Frost Fairs; and the Soho Gin Broth, which uses Barthelmas beef taken from a recipe from 1664.
Master distiller Jared Brown says: “Sipsmith is a real celebration of where the old meets the new, with the spirit of London’s gin heritage at its core, so just as I did for our original London Dry gin recipe, I’ve been delving into the history books for inspiration is where it all began. We can see these becoming classics of the future, and where better to showcase them than at the iconic Ham Yard Hotel.”
Eoin Kenny, bar manager at Ham Yard Hotel says: “Sipsmith London Dry Gin is a popular serve at the bar already, so it’s been great working with Jared to explore all these flavour profiles and reimagine historical drinks recipes with the gin – we’re really proud of the results.”
The pop-up will run from Tuesday 26th January until Sunday 14th February (excluding Mondays) in timed sessions.
