90 years of Queensgate celebrated by local business competition

Lendlease and Invesco Real Estate, the global real estate investment manager, have announced that Westgate Arcade in Queensgate Shopping Centre, Peterborough, has been celebrating its 90th anniversary this month.
In collaboration with National Independent Retailer month, the arcade is celebrating by holding a competition to find the most exciting new independent business in Peterborough. Business of all types are invited to apply for the space in the bustling city centre and the winner will be awarded a unit, rent free for a month in Westgate Arcade. The finalist will be announced later this year and will have the opportunity of working with Queensgate’s marketing and social media teams to support their opening.
Mark Broadhead, centre director of Queensgate Shopping Centre, said: “Westgate Arcade is well-known for its independent retailers and a place where you can buy individual and unique products. We’re looking for local business people that have started a company, have a real passion for what they do and will complement the wonderful variety of retailers we currently have in the arcade.”
One of Peterborough’s most successful entrepreneurs and winner of The Apprentice in 2015, Joseph Valente, is supporting Queensgate’s search for local businesses and commented: “This is a great opportunity for a small business owner to take their business to the next level. You will be able to showcase your products for free – what have you got to lose? I applaud Queensgate for offering this excellent opportunity within Westgate Arcade as it will encourage young budding retail entrepreneurs to apply.”
Throughout Westgate Arcade’s anniversary month, Queensgate’s customers can expect prizes, special offers and activities.
