evian will be the Official Bottled Water of Wimbledon for a further five years after extending its agreement with the All England Club until 2017. The news comes as women’s world number one Maria Sharapova signs a new three year deal to extend her role as evian brand ambassador.
As part of The Championships, Wimbledon, 2012, evian has been serving up a huge range of activities including a real-time evian Ball Hunt, sampling in SW19 and is creating a series of videos capturing the off court footage on Wimbledon.com.
Mick Desmond, commercial director of the All England Club, said: ‘evian has ably demonstrated its enthusiasm and support for The Championships and we are delighted to be extending our agreement. The brand’s innovation and ability to embrace the ethos of Wimbledon, while adding its own twist, has led to a highly successful partnership and it is one which we are looking forward to developing over the next five years.’
Adam Grant, managing director of Danone Waters (UK and Ireland) Ltd, parent company of evian said: ‘I am delighted with this double dose of fantastic news. Everyone at evian is immensely proud of our association with Wimbledon – it is the highlight of the British summer and the perfect opportunity to showcase evian’s ‘live young’ ethos. We also feel incredibly honoured that the extraordinarily talented Maria will be our ambassador for another three years.’
Michael Aidan, evian global brand director said: ‘The whole evian team is very proud of having Maria as an ambassador. Our first partnership started when she was just back from injury and her fantastic comeback [after winning the French Open] is a great source of inspiration for all of us. Maria loves the brand and epitomises the idea of healthy living with a touch of glamour, everything evian stands for all around the world.’
Women’s world number one Maria Sharapova said: ‘I am really excited to continue my relationship with evian. We have had so much fun working together and I look forward to ‘living young’ for another three years.’
