Exterion Media puts local nurse in the spotlight as Marie Curie takes over Manchester Victoria station

In a media first for Manchester Victoria, the station has been taken over by the terminal illness charity Marie Curie in partnership with Exterion Media and Northern. The activity aims to raise awareness of Marie Curie nurses who work through the night in people’s homes.
The eight-week campaign deploys a combination of digital, experiential and classic advertising formats, including a dynamic totalizer that counts the number of donations as they try and reach 600 over the course of the campaign. At the experiential zone commuters are invited to meet and interact with real Marie Curie Nurses, like Rebecca, to drive donations and encourage people to find out more about the work that Marie Curie do.
Nurse Rebecca, who is from Oldham and provides care to terminally ill people in the last weeks and days of their lives, shares her thoughts about being the face of Marie Curie in her home city. She says: “I must admit it has been very strange to see my face plastered everywhere. I’ve received messages from friends and family who’ve passed through the station and thought they were seeing things! But I’m getting used to it and of course I’m really proud to be a Marie Curie Nurse and involved in promoting the charity in such an exciting way.
“Practically everyone will be affected by terminal illness at some point in their lives, so it’s really important that more people are aware of the work that our nurses do and that they are able to receive our help if and when they need it.”
Jason Cotterrell, managing director at Exterion Media UK, said: “It’s brilliant to see a charity such as Marie Curie taking advantage of the creative, immersive and dynamic opportunities our Out-of-Home station solutions offer.”
The takeover runs until the 20th November 2016, before the Marie Curie team and campaign heads to Edinburgh Haymarket to provide Scottish commuters with information about the charity’s services and encouraging them to make a donation.
