The official UK Superbowl viewing party, the NFL Super Bash presented by Chrysler’ was held at the IndigO2 last night (5 Feb 2012) was developed and produced by brand experience agency Ignite.
Twelve hundred and fifty hard-core fans braved the sub-zero temperatures to make it to the arena, where they were treated to pre-show entertainment in the form of the St Louis Rams cheerleaders and the Chicago Bears Drum Line.
There was a special appearance from the Detroit Lions’ big hitter, defensive tackle, Ndamukong Suh and music from rising UK Hip Hop Band, Soul Symphony. Arlo White from radio station Five Live and Nat Coombs from ESPN were the presenters on the night.
Valentine’s Day came early with the first Super Bash proposal from a romantic fan in the audience, who asked his girlfriend to marry him in front of the 1,250 attendees, luckily she said yes.
Ignite dressed the IndigO2 into the team colours of competing sides the New England Patriots and New York Giants, giving out glow sticks and foam fingers to create a competitive but fun atmosphere.
The stars were also in attendance at the Super Bash, with VIP guests including singer, Pixie Lott and Dancing on Ice star, Cory Freedman.
George Chapman, operations director from Ignite said: “This is our first Super Bash for the NFL. We were briefed to create an exclusive event for over a thousand ballot winners, keeping the fun and energy of former events but offering more of a VIP experience. We gave guests free American style food and drinks and changed the format of the event to make sure each attendee had a seat. We flew in the highest calibre of entertainment which ran throughout the night.
“Even though it was a Sunday night and the show didn’t finish until 3am, by which time the temperature was close to minus one – we had almost no early leavers, which is a real testimony to how much fun everyone was having and what a great event it was.“
