RPM and Sky set to combine for Arts Den Experience

Leading Marketing agency RPM is set to host a Sky Arts Den experience at Bath Literature Festival, Brighton Festival and The Hay Festival of Literature and Arts, that encourages consumers to ‘be inspired’ through a re-discovery of the arts. The campaign is part of Sky Arts’ long term commitment to books through partnerships with leading literature festivals across the UK.

The Sky Arts Den will host a range of interactive workshops including ceramics, watercolours and still life, as well as entertainment from Brit nominee Beth Rowley. The Den will run alongside live recordings of Sky Arts’ flagship programme, ‘The Book Show’ at each festival.

Experiential areas will include: ‘The Dispensary’, a showcase featuring collections of objects that have inspired the iconic artists, writers and singers featured in Sky Arts programming, ‘The Cabinet of Wonders’ hosting a large 3D screen showcasing Sky Arts programming, ‘Learn Show and Tell’, a display of the artistic work created at The Den and ‘Creative Wish’ a competition run by Sky Arts to find the best emerging artistic talent in the region.

The aim of the activity is to build awareness of Sky Arts and the variety of content on offer to viewers, as well as demonstrating Sky’s positive contribution and ongoing commitment to the Arts through direct funding initiatives such as The Sky Arts Ignition Series.

Alyssa Bonic, Arts manager, The Bigger Picture, says of the activity: “After the success of the 2011 Sky Arts Books on  Tour, we are thrilled to be taking the Sky Arts Den Experience on the road again in 2012 to some of the UK’s most respected literary festivals. Our aim is to provide opportunities for visitors to be inspired in and directly experience the arts, and having worked with RPM for 6 years, we have every confidence that the Sky Arts Den will help consumers to do just that.”

Dom Robertson, managing director of RPM said of the activity: “After a £23m cut in the Arts Council Budget, it was feared that Britain’s reputation as a global leader in Arts would be jeopardised. It is absolutely fantastic to see Sky so proactively supporting the Arts through the Ignition series and the Sky Arts Den, and we are really proud to be involved in the drive to keep the public engaged and inspired.”
