Creative agency Space has appointed Jamie King as strategy director to work across its client portfolio which includes William Grant & Sons, Heineken, Arla Foods and General Mills.
King, formerly executive planning director at Live & Breathe, will be responsible for the strategic output of the agency and further strengthening its planning and insight capabilities. He will report into Managing Partners, Jason Nicholas and David Atkinson, and support them on the wider development of the agency as Space looks to capitalise upon its recent growth.
The 35-strong independent agency, which grew by over 90% in 2016, provides its clients with a suite of creative services including advertising, digital, social media, shopper and experiential marketing. Space recently created a 60” TV commercial to support the global launch of the Glenfiddich Experimental Series and produced a virtual reality distillery tour for the whisky brand which is currently being activated across over 20 international markets. Space has also been responsible for the Wimbledon Arrivals brand experience since 2012 and delivered last year’s high profile UEFA Euro 2016 trophy tour across France. Space has recently been appointed by General Mills for whom they have just launched an integrated campaign for Nature Valley with a film featuring Johanna Konta, Britain’s No.1 female tennis player.
Jamie King comments: “I can’t wait to get moving. I was seduced by the talent at Space, its people-first approach to planning and its multi-disciplined creative strength. I’m excited by the agency’s proposition, the variety of commercial challenges it tackles and its stellar client roster.”
King began his career client-side working for Tesco in various operational, commercial and marketing positions before moving into telecoms and holding brand, customer experience and insight roles at T-Mobile and EE. After moving agency-side, King led the execution of Samsung mobile brand experiences for London 2012 and held the Planning Director position at Cheil Worldwide.
Jason Nicholas added: “We searched long and hard for the right individual who could help our clients’ tackle not only the brand issues that they face but their wider business challenges. In Jamie, we have found a rare talent whose diverse background means that he brings a powerful blend of strategic, creative and commercial thinking to the table. We’re delighted to have made such a high calibre addition to our senior team and look forward to the impact that he’ll make on our clients’ businesses.”
