The Beach gets set for the summer season

London’s first beach destination, called The Beach, has announced its readiness for a summer of festivals, brand experience events, corporate events, sports events, weddings and parties.

News of the new venue, which is sited near to the O2, was welcomed by London’s Mayor, Boris Johnson who stated “I’m delighted that after a thousand years, London will soon have golden shores to rival even the best of the Caribbean. Greenwich Peninsula has already been transformed from an industrial hinterland into a vibrant commercial and entertainment hub, and The Beach will be a magnificent addition”

The Beach has been licensed to operate until 2017 and it occupies a 7,500sqm location which is fully or partially bookable and is already set to host a number of events including July’s Soul and Blues Festival, featuring Jools Holland and Bill Wyman (21-22 July).

Amongst other forward bookings, official Olympic security provider, GS4 will use the venue for its post Olympic party.

The location, which is Europe’s largest man-made beach, takes its lead off other success stories for city beaches across Europe, including Paris and Copenhagen. It can accommodate up to 5000 guests, and has, amongst its features, palm tress and beach bars and a huge projection dome.

The Beach also benefits from being set in a non-residential area, which means that decibel limits are generous for a noisy party until 1am.

The venue will also be available for family and public use.

Out of season, the venue promoters, Make Moore and Groove, plan to transform The Beach into a heated winter wonderland.
