The Slug and Lettuce sponsors Music Night at Sandown Park

Sandown Park Racecourse has signed an exclusive sponsorship deal with nationwide bar chain The Slug and Lettuce ahead of its Music Night with Jessie J on 9th August 2012.
The lucrative partnership will see The Slug and Lettuce, which runs 82 bars throughout the UK, hold naming rights to the whole day, along with racecard branding for music nights at Sandown Park, and at Razorlight and Will Young performances at Epsom Downs Racecourse. The Slug and Lettuce has taken the opportunity to brand one of Sandown Park’s most popular bars across four consecutive fixtures in the summer, including the Music Nights.
Last year, Sandown Park welcomed 26,500 visitors to its two live music and racing evenings. This summer, the venue is running a series of racing and live music nights, with performances from Jessie J, Tom Jones and Alfie Boe. The Slug and Lettuce will have the opportunity to engage with the racecourse’s demographics, as well as gaining air time on racing’s leading subscription channel, Racing UK, which receives up to 95,000 weekly viewers.
Sandown Park Racecourse’s commercial director, Simon Kershaw, said, “We are delighted to be entering into a partnership with such an exciting and expanding brand. The Slug and Lettuce bar chain is a great fit for Sandown Park: it’s fun, well-known and the clientele who eat at their outlets are similar to those who attend events at the racecourse. We hope this will be the first of many partnerships for our Sandown Park Music Nights.”
Nicola Stuart, brand manager for The Slug and Lettuce, commented, “This is the first time we have sponsored a race meeting and feel it’s the perfect fit alongside Jessie J, attracting a young and dynamic crowd who enjoy a fun night out. In the build-up to the evening, we are holding race nights sponsored by Smirnoff at local Slug and Lettuce bars close to the racecourse, where punters can win tickets to see Jessie J live. We also see the evening as a great chance to reward our bar managers, who work so hard year after year.”
