The Field Marketing and Brand Experience industry rallies around the Big Tour Of England

Fizz Experience, REL Field Marketing, Roamler and TRO are the latest FMBE businesses to get behind the Big Tour of England aka Frank’s Big TOE.
The full 1850 mile running Tour of England will see FMBE Awards and Field Marketing magazine’s owner/director Frank Wainwright running a full clockwise circuit of England in 62 days, linking up all 42 English cathedral cities along the way.

The Tour is fully supported with both consumer and B2B media programmes, including a daily digital and social media report, a dedicated business magazine and a book. Award winning PR agency PrettyGreen is providing media and broadcast support, alongside Broadcast Revolution.
The urban-country route was devised by runner-writer Frank during lockdown and has been carefully curated to take in England from every angle visiting notable landmarks, shopping centres, leisure centres, sports grounds, national parks, and areas of outstanding beauty.
The Tour will raise money for deprived youth and children via Brathay Trust.
The Tour has these stated aims:
- To raise at least £60,000 for Brathay Trust
- To build, through the process a network of FMBE industry mentors for young people – called Yvent.
- To raise awareness of the incredible work and local-national coverage of the FMBE industry by documenting the full range of the work undertaken nationwide by FMBE agencies this summer.
- To build diversity and inclusion opportunities, both through the urban-country route and through the Yvent mentoring
- To create a long-term legacy project with FMBE and Yvent continuing to support young people from diverse and challenging backgrounds to find their feet in our industry.
- To tell the Story of England – from the history of each area, to local food and drink, shopper and demographic data, flora and fauna, sports and music. The Tour visits everything from Shakespeare’s birthplace to the Dr Who Museum, from Birmingham’s Balti to the races at Newmarket.
- To get people out running or walking. An app is being prepared for the event – news to follow – that will allow agencies, groups, businesses, running clubs and even pub teams to log their runs and walks from July to August with post event prizes to be announced. Which FMBE agency will prove to be the ‘most active’ and win the trophy?
Announcing the newest sponsors, Frank Wainwright said: “I’m honoured that the Tour of England is receiving such effective and whole-hearted support from across the industry. After 20 years of hosting FMBE Awards, this is my way of harnessing the connections that the event and magazine has brought to leave a lasting and meaningful legacy.”
“There is quite a journey ahead of us.”
