New Formworks app announced for field reps

A new app for iPad called  ‘Formworks, from Digital Field Solutions (DFS) eliminates the need for paper forms and has the potential to cut data processing time in half.   The app enables users to easily create and update their own mobile forms that can also capture and convert handwriting to text.

It means field staff can easily complete a form during a meeting or inspection, capture signature authorisation on the spot and then send it directly to the office system with a simple touch of the screen – reducing the burden of paperwork and the potential for data errors, while also enabling orders to be processed quicker.  The Formworks app also has a facility by which users can take pictures and incorporate them into the form – great for on the spot recording.

DFS has also announced the launch of its Cloud Hub so managers can track activity in real time via an easy-to-use dashboard.  The hub allows managers to drill down and view captured data in a range of formats including PDF, Excel and CSV.

“We developed Formworks to give organisations greater control over their remote data capture process in a fraction of the time it takes to use traditional pen and paper,” explains Director Tim Howard. “We found that many data capture products were fiddly to use and actually made life more difficult for the user. We sought to designelectronic forms that are even simpler to use and more efficient than paperforms, and with its intuitive handwriting recognition technology Formworks delivers on that goal.”

Field staff are often a company’s most valuable asset and invariably their role involves capturing information and working through forms and documents, often off site with clients. Formworks has been specifically designed to make their life easier and their time more productive.

“Formworks uses simple drag and drop tools with easy navigation in a familiar web-based environment so it is really easy to create your own customised forms in minutes, and with minimal training – no programming is required,” continues Tim. Forms can be personalised with the company logo and include the option of typing or writing using thebest handwriting recognition technology available. They can also be updated remotely by an administrator to ensure that all field workers are instantly using the correct and up-to-date forms.

In most cases Formworks can completely eliminate the need for paper forms as it allows users to upload text, photographs, drawings and handwritten signatures straight into their office system. It is not only sustainable, it is secure too: information captured via the Formworks app is processed on the Digital Field Solutions server and immediately output to the client. Formworks access is password protected and in addition administrators can remove users remotely and block their access to the system at any time.
