CPM wins Learning and Development award at IGD

The IGD John Sainsbury Award for Learning and Development has been won by sales development agency CPM. It is the first time that an agency has ever won the award. CPM’s win was announced at last night’s IGD Industry Awards dinner.

The IGD Industry Awards celebrate achievement and innovation across the food supply chain and shine the spotlight on people, businesses that make a difference to the public. Its Industry Awards are judged by senior executives of global brands and are almost exclusively won by retailers and manufacturers.

The John Sainsbury Award for Learning and Development honours an initiative that has achieved demonstrable business results through people development, sustained learning and continuing performance improvement. The other companies shortlisted for this award were: Adams Foods, Burton’s Biscuit Company and Tesco Stores.

The 2013 award was won by CPM in recognition of the agency’s ‘My Manager’ management development programme, which was introduced by the company in 2011 to give its managers the framework, skills and behaviours to motivate and inspire their teams while retaining their own personality.

CPM’s award entry stated: “All of our managers (over 150) have attended the programme, from team leaders to senior executives, developing the behaviours that create great leaders and coaches, to build a high performance culture and bring through our next generation of talent.”

CPM managing director Martin Ryan said: “As an outsourced sales organisation we are immensely proud to be recognized for a programme that has not only improved the consistency and quality of people management across our business, but has measurably benefited our clients.  Developing our people is core to CPM’s ethos, and this programme has succeeded in further motivating our sales teams to deliver peak performance. It has succeeded in its aim to improve the consistency and quality of people management across our business, benefiting the company at a micro and macro level, delivering tangible results for our people and our clients.

“To be honoured by the IGD amongst such prestigious company is probably the greatest compliment we could have received”, he added.

The IGD Awards took place on 8 October at London’s Park Plaza Westminster Bridge.
