FMBE Awards 2020 delivers its virtual awards event with emotion and insight

me liveFMBE 2020 was presented online on Friday 29th January with a mammoth 13 hours of broadcasting to Facebook Live. Each category was scrutinised, and the finalist campaigns discussed ahead of the winner reveals.

all day clipChampion agencies of the year were Logobrand for Field Marketing and The Circle Agency for Brand Experience. Brands making the headlines for multiple gold wins included Costa, Samsung, Britvic and Peroni. There were two gold winners in an emotional Brand Ambassador of the Year category that celebrated key workers and the NHS in this most challenging year. Carly Gamble acosta celenbratestook gold for her work at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Samsung and Blue Square and Andrew Elliott won gold for his work in sales and availability in Northern Ireland for Weetabix and REL Field Marketing. P&G with Field Sales Solutions were named Field Marketing Team of the Year after two previous silver awards in the category in 2019 and 2018.

There were many event highlights in the broadcast that provided a unique snapshot of the way that businesses have stayed operative during COVID with fine examples were showcased throughout the day.

The broadcast was also harnessed to show how investable and innovative FMBE Agencies are, and to progress core industry causes including the event industry collective, 1 Industry 1 Voice. Core announcements were made about subjects including the health and safety advances for event and shopper safety under COVID and the continued forwards march of environmental progress being made.

Many leading brands participated in the live conversations including Philips, Costa, Coca-Cola European Partners, Plfridgeadis, Britvic and Molson Coors.

Event well-wisher, DJ Spoony (Jonathan Joseph) set the tone for the event with a recorded message to all participants. The DJ also had his fingers crossed on behalf of his own 8-hour virtual event, a 50th Birthday celebration of Black British Excellence with Blue Square Group that duly won gold in logistics.

The event presentation was anchored by FMBE’s Frank Wainwright who was in the kitchen-studio hotseat for 13 hours. Frank comments: “My job was easy. In a world where content is king, all I had to do was unleash each panel of storytellers. Hearing our amazing finalists tell their campaign stories, their challenges and their successes was exciting. The opportunity to present this was a uniquely special one.”
