London Zoo installs water fountains and joins #OneLess campaign

When London Zoo took the decision to cease the sale of single-use plastic water bottles at the end of May this year, as part of this year’s #OneLess campaign, they appointed WET Global Events to manufacture and install two bespoke water fountains. The fountains dispense the company’s clean, re-mineralised, alkaline drinking water product, Pure Ionic Water and are now accessible to all visitors at the popular tourist attraction. The fountains are located at Barclay Court, near the Penguin Beach, the highest footfall area within the entire zoo and the Adventure Café, which is both child and DDA friendly.
The #OneLess campaign is led by international conservation charity the Zoological Society of London(ZSL) and partners in the Marine CoLABoration, who are working to make London the first capital city to stop using single-use plastic bottles. Plastic free bottles can be purchased from the retail outlet onsite at London Zoo and from there, guests have unlimited access to the fountains dispensing the unique high alkaline water.
WET Global Events also provided bespoke water fountains for a similar initiative at Selfridges’ flagship Oxford Street store earlier in the year. Michael Adams, CEO of WET Global Events said: “Playing an integral role in an initiative like the #OneLess campaign is important to us as a business. We’re are an environmentally responsible company and assisting other businesses and organisations in their own sustainable enterprises is exactly what we’re all about. Over 2 billion plastic water bottles are disposed of every week, many of these bottles finding their way into landfill sites and the ocean. Anything that we can do to reduce that number is very pleasing.”
