Rakuten Marketing appoints Anthony Capano as international managing director

The newly created role will see APAC and EMEA leadership veteran, Anthony Capano, drive ambitious growth in new and existing territories outside the US

Rakuten Marketing, the leading digital advertising business, today announces the appointment of Anthony Capano to the newly created position of International managing director.

As managing director of International, Capano will now cover all territories outside of the US and Japan (including Europe, Middle East, Africa, Asia-Pacific and Latin America). The appointment comes as part of the company’s commitment to investment in technology and services built for the global market ahead of expansion into new territories.

Commenting on the company’s new global alignment, Rakuten Marketing CEO Nick Stamos said: “As more of Rakuten Marketing’s EMEA clients expand operations overseas, this appointment allows for the international operations to unify under one leader. Anthony’s well-versed background, understanding of the e-commerce industry in the EMEA and APAC regions, coupled with the growth he has driven for both Rakuten Marketing and our clients over his 6 years with the business were recognised as perfectly suited to naturally progress Rakuten Marketing’s international business.”

As former managing director of APAC, Capano launched Rakuten Marketing to the Australian market and across the greater region. In early 2018, he was promoted to Managing Director of EMEA and has since spearheaded operations, overseen expansion in France and Germany, and positioned Rakuten Marketing as a leading advertising solution across the European region.

Anthony Capano comments, “The momentum we’ve built internationally over the past few years has put the business in a fantastic position to begin tailoring and deploying our technology in new and exciting markets. By providing the network and support brands need, we’re going to be able to offer clients countless opportunities to grow internationally.”
