Lendlease and Invesco Real Estate, the global real estate investment manager, are celebrating the success of ‘Summer in the City’, an event that took place on 4 May at Queensgate shopping centre in Peterborough.
Hosted by celebrity personality Ferne McCann, the fashion-focused event attracted thousands of visitors to Central Square for two days of free activities and installations. A host of stylists, make-up artists and experts took residency at the festival, alongside talks about this season’s must-haves and a Customisation Station offering personalisation of products brought in the centre.
Bloggers including Deep in Mummy Matters, Blogging Beautifully, and Loved by Lizzi were in attendance at the event alongside key influencers such as Layla Panam, all generating a total social media reach of over 122.9K. Queensgate created four urban fashion zones bringing a new season of style to the destination. With an edgy graffiti décor in one, to chic chandeliers in another, each created a shareable moment while a live DJ set the beat throughout the weekend.
Claire Yeadon, Asset Manager at Lendlease, commented: “The Summer in the City event was a great success and further positions Queensgate as the cultural hub of Peterborough. Enrichment activity bolsters the retail offer and is one of the most important things a shopping destination can bring to the community.”
The event follows the announcement that Skechers, global lifestyle and performance footwear brand, is due to open their brand-new 2,611 sq ft store at Queensgate this month. Phase one works for the £60m extension of Queensgate have also begun and with the refurbished John Lewis concept store launching at the beginning of 2020 and the full extension by Autumn 2021.
