TGI Fridays has tasked martech agency Byte with creating a festive, gamified and personalised in-dining ‘Cocktail Creator’ web AR experience that promotes the restaurant’s cocktails while diners wait for service.
The AR game helps guests discover their perfect festive cocktail at Fridays through personalised suggestions based on flavour profiles.
Guests scan the QR code on the back of the Christmas menu card with their mobile phone and then move their head to control the shaker and capture the flavour profile they want.
Once the flavour profiles are collected, guests shake their head to mix their cocktail. Using instant world tracking and 3D modelling, the perfect cocktail is then revealed in AR form so guests can can order and enjoy immediately.
Dan Staples, Chief Marketing Officer at Fridays, said: “We’ll be serving large helpings of much needed Fridays feeling at all of our open restaurants throughout December. This AR game will add more festive fun to the proceedings and help our guests experience fantastic flavours and our famous cocktail making heritage.
Isabel Perry, Director of Technology at Byte, added: “As restaurants open up again it’s the perfect time to release the Fridays’ ‘Cocktail Creator’. It’s a fun playful web AR game, providing great entertainment to diners. Users are asked to ‘catch’ the AR ingredients they like, and avoid the ones they don’t to find the perfect Fridays cocktail. Using instant world tracking and 3D modelling, a very realistic cocktail is presented to you.”
