Jeep’s off-road driving capabilities have aided in the addition of the biggest ever jump to the world-renowned Red Bull Hardline mountain bike event, which returns to the Welsh Snowdonia national park for a third time on 18th September.
The ‘Renegade Step Up’ was due to feature in last year’s race but extreme weather conditions saw it scrapped from the course.
To ensure that doesn’t happen again this year Jeep ambassador and professional mountain bike rider, Dan Atherton, who designed and built the course, will use the Renegade to adapt the severity of the jump depending on the weather.
It’s the second year that Jeep UK has supported the event after being announced as Red Bull Hardline’s Mountain Bike Partner last year. The ongoing partnership sees Jeep utilise its vehicles to help riders access extreme sections of courses at all Red Bull mountain bike events.
The Red Bull Hardline event began in 2014 when Atherton was keen to progress downhill racing and created an epic track which reminds fans and riders alike, how thrilling and risky downhill racing can be.
Damien Dally, head of brand, Jeep UK, said: “The Jeep Renegade has been integral in adding the newest, biggest and most exciting jump to Red Bull Hardline 2016. We will also be providing 10 cars throughout the event to help riders access the most extreme parts of the course.”
“You have to be one of the best riders in the world to attempt this course,” said Atherton. “Adding the ‘Renegade Step Up’ makes the race even more exciting and challenging. It’s definitely the standout feature on the course and I think the riders might be quite intimidated when they see it.”
The Red Bull Hardline event takes place on Sunday 18th September, with Jeep also providing vehicles for ‘the Best Seat in the House’ competition.
