TRO fly with the East Anglian Air Ambulance in memory of Tom Gentle

TRO presented The East Anglian Air Ambulance with a cheque for £3,665.87 – the result of a charitable effort taken on by a team of 12 TROjans in April in honour of their friend and colleague Tom Gentle.
In September 2015, TRO was deeply saddened by the sudden loss of Tom in a tragic sailing accident. Tom was a well-respected sailor, and enjoyed taking part in crazy cycling challenges – including in April 2015 the pursuit of London to Paris in under 24 hours with three fellow TRO colleagues.
The original team didn’t quite hit their time target. So on 2nd April 2016 a group of eight cyclists, along with a support crew of two, set-off from London to Paris to recreate the challenge. Named L2P4TG – in tribute to Tom – the team smashed the target, completing the journey in 22 hours and 40 minutes. Not prepared to rest on their laurels, and in true ‘Tom style’, two of the cyclists then went on to run the Paris Marathon the following day, joined by an additional two members of the team.
The East Anglian Air Ambulance, who provided rapid response at the scene of Tom’s accident, was an obvious charitable cause to fundraise for and generously showed a few of the TRO team around the fantastic facilities in Norwich today.
Holly Lambert, Area Fundraising Manager for The East Anglian Air Ambulance said: “The average mission cost is £3,500 and each mission could involve multiple patients so the donation from the TRO team to our charity will undoubtedly have a significant impact. We would like to extend thanks to all those involved in the L2P4TG challenge.”
An additional £3,665.87 was also raised for the Jubilee Sailing Trust.
