IE Events and DFDS Seaways bring a taste of Amsterdam to Newcastle

IE Clog copyDFDS Seaways took over Monument Metro over the last weekend in January, teaming up with brand engagement agency Independent Events, to transform the Metro station into an immersive Amsterdam experience!

The activation ran across the weekend of January 26th & 27th January and brought more than a taste of Holland to the North East.  Traditional stalls housed the finest Dutch gouda and edam from Amsterdam, along with stroopwafels baked and directly imported from the Dutch capital which were distributed to the many visitors at one of Newcastle’s busiest Metro Stations.  The walls of the station were transformed into Dutch buildings to give a truly immersive feel alongside DFDS’ very own giant clog, available for photo opportunities with the public.

A team of seven staff members were dressed in full Dutch attire and were split into three stallholders and four brand ambassadors.  Stallholders handled the food and the brand ambassadors were armed with an iPad to encourage competition entering aas well as offering free tulips to passers-by with the offer of a mini-cruise break for £45. A giant clog, shipped in from Amsterdam, provided photo opportunities.  Brand ambassadors invited the public to share their pictures on social media to be in with a chance of winning a free mini cruise.
