UntapTV gets sound response with AEG Live in China

UntapTV, the enabler of real-time interactive consumer engagement, has announced a partnership with AEG Live, part of Anschutz Entertainment Group (AEG), one of the world’s largest live music event promoters.

UntapTV has been selected as the exclusive technology partner to deliver rich content to smartphones and tablets at all of AEG’s large-scale concerts in China. AEG concerts this year include Maroon 5, Elton John and one of China’s biggest stars, Eason Chan.

UntapTV’s sonic response codes – inaudible codes hidden in sound – bring concerts to life as content and media are delivered to audiences’ mobile phones, in real time. Concert-goers will be able to engage with artists and performances, from sing-along lyrics and live in-concert voting, to synchronised light shows.

UntapTV’s first concert with AEG was the recent Maroon 5 performance at the Mercedes Benz Arena in Shanghai. The interactive app was extremely well received by the audience. On average, users opened the app 10 times each during the event. The app delivered rich features in real time including live photo feeds, lyrics and merchandise offers.

“As one of the leading entertainment presenters in the world, we are dedicated to providing world-class experiences for our audiences,” said John Cappo, CEO of AEG China. “In China, where mobile internet usage is the highest in the world, we are exploring together with UntapTV how to further engage with our concert-goers. We believe in Chinese audiences, and with our growing network of arenas we are preparing for the future of live entertainment through deeper audience interaction and real-time fan experiences.”

UntapTV co-founder Terence Tow, comments: “We are delighted to have been selected as AEG’s partner of choice to boost the audience experience at all their concerts in China. Live concerts are a perfect example of where consumer behaviour and technology merge seamlessly, and this partnership is indicative of a massive global demand for creating this new type of consumer engagement.”

UntapTV technology has already been broadcast by BBC Worldwide and has been successfully deployed at Shanghai Tang fashion shows in China. Earlier this year, UntapTV entered into partnership with 7-Eleven – the world’s largest convenience retailer – and powered an interactive game across 6,300 7-Eleven stores that drove their app to #2 overall in Thailand.
