Every week, Field Marketing and Brand Experience Magazine is catching up with five previous FMBE Award winners to find out what they have been up to since winning gold.

N2O- Jody Measures

How did the team celebrate winning an FMBE accolade?

I’ll be honest, there was a fair amount of champagne involved! Winning not only Agency of the Year, but also winning awards for our campaigns with Tesco and Castrol was definitely cause for celebration! There may have also been some dancing at the awards ‘do, it was Top of the Pops themed, after all!

What is exciting about your work at the moment?

At the moment, we’re working on a real mix of briefs; everything from large experiential campaigns for the Coca-Cola family through to smaller, shopper focussed campaigns – each requiring their own unique approach and creative thinking. We’ve got a fantastic team getting really stuck in to the different briefs and it’s great to be able to work on some things we’ve never done before. You can see more on our work with the Diet Coke igloo here.

What individual or group of people helped achieve your FMBE awards success?

Winning the FMBE award for Agency of the Year was a real team effort – as cliched as that may sound! It recognised everything we as a company think about our fantastic team and the people that work so hard to make it that way. We’ve got a great group of people at N2O and the award really celebrated that.

Do you feel like your career has progressed in the last six months?

Since winning Agency of the Year, we’ve definitely seen an increase in the number of pitches we’re a part of. This year, we’ve already pitched for more business than we’ve ever done in any previous year since we’ve been an agency!

Where is your FMBE trophy currently situated?

It’s on our desk in our head office reception, so everyone can see it as they enter the office. It’s nice to be reminded of it when we come into work, and visitors at reception have asked about it, too.

What is exciting about your work at the moment?

I’ve recently taken on an executive role which is more client based. There has been a lot to learn but it’s helped me develop my skills and there is a lot of interesting projects we are working on.

What individual or group of people helped achieve your FMBE awards success?

The Duracell management team since joining have always been supportive in my development and helping me to deliver strong KPI’s. Also being able to interact with the client while in the field helped me to showcase the work I did and work towards solving issues in store for Duracell.

Do you feel like your career has progressed in the last six months?

Yes, I’ve been able to develop whilst working in the field to the point I’m now in an exec role. I will also be able to develop further by building reports and presenting at conferences and client meetings.

WeAreFearless. Garry Dods

How did the team celebrate winning an FMBE accolade?
In true Fearless spirit, with a bottle of our specially distilled Fearless charcoal black gin.

What is exciting about your work at the moment?
Everything. We’re an integrated creative agency on a mission to challenge convention to find new opportunities and growth for our clients. So, you can imagine doing things differently naturally takes us down more unexpected paths and creative routes which is exciting and challenging at the same time. It’s also a really interesting learning journey as we set out to develop bolder work using our Psychology and Neuroscienceinsights and other evidence-based tools. We call it boldness with backup. We believe this deeper human centric approach is new to this industry and really puts the audience’s unconscious needs right at the heart of our strategies so we can develop more relevant and emotionally engaging campaigns.

The other exciting thing is that we’re working across the most passionate and dynamic partnerships, talent and experiences in Sports, Music and Entertainment. In this world of earned media led ideas which create their own sharability and reach, we’re incredibly proud of our work with the likes of Bridgestone, UEFA and Firestone and building on our 2018 efforts where we worked in 10 international markets outside of the UK (Azerbaijan, USA, Argentina, Austria, France, Poland, Germany, Italy, Spain, South Africa).

We’re also committed to being active thought-leaders and challenge the industry to be more fearless in approaching problem solving, through our events like Embrace The Unknown, with Britain’s first astronaut Helen Sharman. She embodies the very essence of being fearless, willing to lean into the unknown to challenge convention to find opportunity and her anecdotes and learnings from being bold with the backup were absolutely fascinating! Everyone learned a huge amount.

What individual or group of people helped achieve your FMBE awards success?
The whole agency, everything we do is a huge team effort!! Our 33 staff, 16 nationalities, 18 languages and 4 beards all played a part.  And of course, our brave clients!

Unknown-5Do you feel like your career has progressed in the last six months?
Every day we move forward. We’re on a mission to challenge the industry and create something really special. Our team come in every day with a Fearless spirit, glint in their eye and desire to make a difference. We don’t get everything right but we’re proud of what we’re achieving together.

In just 4 years, we’ve gone from one founding employee in an upstairs room, to an international agency capable of taking on the industry’s biggest players.

And we’ve only just begun…

Pride of place on our trophy shelf (along with all of the other awards we’ve been lucky to win over the years!).  You cannot underestimate the pride that our people take in receiving this external validation of their work so we always ensure that we shout about this…often!  The original award sits with us and we are very protective of it however, we also ensure that our customers receive replicas so they can also display (and brag) with pride!
