TRO is bracing itself for its busy event season by recruiting and training 20 new Event Operators to supplement its existing workforce of 45.
As part of its full service offering, TRO’s 65 Event Operators are the ‘team on the ground’ who transport, set-up and manage event kit and activations for clients including BMW, Volvo, Ribena, Lucozade, Vauxhall and Diageo. Amongst the newest recruits there are skills including carpentry, engineering, customer service, sports coaching and those with military backgrounds.
Speaking as the 20 new recruits were in the midst of a two week intensive skills-based training course, Gary Wootton, Operations Director at TRO said: “We have purposefully selected candidates with diverse backgrounds in order to match skills and personalities with our clients’ brands. Having a mechanical background, for example, is advantageous to some of our automotive clients whilst those with a keen sports interest match well for brands like Lucozade. To get to this point we have been on an intensive three month recruitment journey including four assessment days as well as the two week training course the team are currently participating in. Event Operators can be the final TRO touchpoint at an event so it is hugely important that we invest in a thorough recruitment and training strategy to ensure we deliver the very best team in the industry and are truly experts at all levels of creating and delivering Brand Experiences.”
With major upcoming events including BMW PGA Championship and Goodwood Festival of Speed, TRO is set for a busy Summer season. From 16th May all new recruits will be equipped with their uniform and toolbox ready to hit the ground running. This year for the first time, their toolbox – (as well as the expected allen keys and wrenches!) – will also include a tablet enabling full remote connectivity to drive logistical efficiencies and real-time updates for clients.
