Meadowhall, Yorkshire’s premier shopping destination welcomed its first Artisan Food & Drink Market over one of the busiest weekends in Meadowhall’s calendar.
From March 24 – 26, Meadowhall, hosted some of the region’s finest food and drink producers, showcasing a range of gourmet fayre and local food goods including chutneys, ciders, smoked salmon and venison, fresh cakes and home-made chocolate Easter eggs. During the three-day event, an eclectic mix of independent food and drink producers attended the market including the York Pie Company, The Little Square Cake Company, Source Climate Change Coffee and Puckett’s Pickles.
The inaugural event also featured a pop-up kitchen, hosting demonstrations on the hour, every hour, by talented local and regional chefs including the renowned Stephanie Moon.
Darren Pearce, Meadowhall Centre Director, said: “Meadowhall is passionate about offering customers something different but we are also committed to providing more than just a retail experience.
“For more than 25 years, Meadowhall has been part of the Sheffield community and we’re always keen to get involved with projects that champion local and regional producers. Connoisseurs of cooking and shoppers who have a real taste for quality cuisine, enjoyed browsing the bespoke stalls and sampling first-hand the very best produce Yorkshire has to offer. While the guest chefs in our pop-up cookery theatre demonstrated how to make your own culinary creations when you’re back home.”
Sarah Ellerby, from the Little Square Cake Company added: “The Meadowhall Artisan Food and Drink Market was a great success. In 2016, we set strong targets to push ourselves to do larger shows and markets and they don’t come much bigger or better than Meadowhall.”
