The Worshipful Company of Marketors, also known as the Marketors’ Company has appointed Andrew Cross as the new Master for 2019. Andrew was installed as Master at the Company’s Installation ceremony on Thursday 30th January at Drapers’ Hall in London.
Choosing ‘Optimism offers Opportunity’ as his theme for the year, Andrew’s leadership of The Marketors in 2019 will focus on taking a positive approach to the challenges facing the UK which should help the Company in achieving its goals, both national and personal.
Andrew says: “It’s an honour to have been elected as the new Master for 2019. My theme for the year is ‘Optimism Offers Opportunity’. Optimism is believing that solutions will be found and opportunities will result. I firmly believe that this represents the attitude we should adopt as we look to the future uncertainties of 2019 and immediately beyond. A positive approach to the challenges ahead of us will certainly help us in achieving our goals, from global and national, to social and personal.”
Andrew Cross is a distinguished creative marketer and he is planning to offer a varied programme of traditional, business and social events that will appeal to both Marketors and the marketing industry. He is also planning to engage more with the Company’s widely dispersed membership by visiting various parts of the country and holding Marketor evenings outside of the City of London.
He has already introduced the “Marketor Scholar” scheme to provide the Company’s post-graduate academic award winners with support and opportunities to assist in shaping their marketing careers, including participation in the very active Company mentoring programme to help guide them.
As Andrew’s formative years were spent in New Zealand it was particularly appropriate that his guest speaker for this year’s installation dinner was His Excellency the Rt Hon Sir Jerry Mateparae GNZM, QSO, the New Zealand High Commissioner to the United Kingdom. In delivering his speech to the evening’s guests, Sir Jerry formally launched the Master’s new theme for 2019.
