Aldi Swing Ball goes head to head with Wimbledon

  • The Aldi Swing Ball Championships in SW19 was open from Monday to Friday on week one of Wimbledon and courts were free to book
  • Guests booked a 45 min game via Eventbrite
  • Aldi’s pledged savings of up to 90% vs Wimbledon prices, with drinks and strawberries on offer at the event

Aldi brought swinging, good value fun to SW19 with the first ever Aldi Swing Ball Championships being held, during week one of the tennis in Wimbledon.

Good value fun was top of the agenda at Aldi’s first ever Aldi Swing Ball Championships.

Coinciding with the launch of the Tennis Championships just down the road, Aldi’s event promised to be the smash hit of the summer. Located in beautiful Cannizaro Park, just next to Wimbledon Common, ten swing ball courts were available to book online between Monday 3rd July – Friday 7th July.  Each session lasted 45 minutes, allowing plenty of time for swing ball action followed by strawberries and cream with a refreshing drink at the Austin’s Bar.
With the traditional Wimbledon Tennis refreshments of Pimm’s plus strawberries and cream expected to set visitors back at least £11 per head, The Aldi Swing Ball Championships aimed to be a fantastic way to have fun this without breaking the bank. After a free game of swing ball, Aldi’s Austin’s summer fruit punch is on sale for just 78p per cup complete with a side portion of strawberries and cream for just 89p.  The perfect way to toast a victory while watching the next match in action.

Ahead of the event, Julie Ashfield, Managing Director of Buying at Aldi UK, said: “With the rising cost of living, not everyone can afford to attend the tennis, but we didn’t want anyone to miss out on the fun this year. By bringing The Aldi Swing Ball Championships to Cannizaro Park in Wimbledon, we hope that no matter what your budget, you can enjoy some of that special Wimbledon magic with a good value Aldi twist.

Challenge friends to a game, or simply come along to watch, just be sure to bring the energy and we want to hear plenty of cheering and encouragement!”

Brand experience agency Hopper, PR agency Clarion Communications and staff provider Elevate were core agency suppliers to the event.
