Blippar shows off its technology via Formula One

Mobile visual discovery app, Blippar, today announced a partnership with Formula One driver Max Chilton. Blippar’s logo will be prominently displayed on the nose of Chilton’s Marussia F1 car at this weekend’s British Grand Prix at Silverstone and for the rest of the Formula One season.

In addition to featuring on the nose of Chilton’s car, the Blippar logo, when blipped, will trigger exclusive multimedia content featuring Max Chilton. Photo cards of Max Chilton (available through the link at the bottom of this release and available to those on Max Chilton’s mailing list) will also be Blippar enabled to launch multimedia content when blipped.

Blippar’s Formula One partnership is a first amongst the growing British start-up community. Founded in 2011, Blippar is a pioneer in the rapidly expanding augmented reality industry, working with some of the world’s biggest and best-known consumer and publishing brands. The Formula One® partnership is a natural progression in the growth of the two-year-old company and along with fulfilling a personal ambition for CEO, Founder and avid Formula One fan, Ambarish Mitra, will enable Blippar to potentially reach millions of Formula One fans around the world.

When the logo is blipped using the Blippar app, fans will be given access to rich multimedia content personally introduced by Max Chilton. The blipp will include video content that will be updated with each Grand Prix. The first videos will feature an interview with Max and Martin Brundle and a tour of the Marussia F1 car factory. The blipp will also give fans the opportunity to take the Batak challenge, a timed game of reflex and precision similar to the one Formula One drivers use in training.
