Costa Coffee puckers up for Guinness World Record attempt
Costa Coffee is attempting to achieve the Guinness World Records title for ‘Most couples kissing under the mistletoe (multiple venues)’ – and is asking thousands of shoppers across the country to take part. The coffee shop has enlisted the help of celeb couple Rochelle and Marvin Humes, to beat the record.
The husband and wife duo will lead the Guinness World Records attempt from London’s Westfield Stratford City on Thursday 14 December, with Brits around the country also participating at four other locations (The Oracle Shopping Centre, Reading, High Cross Shopping Centre, Leicester, Cabot Circus, Bristol and Silverburn Shopping Centre, Glasgow)
To achieve the Guinness World Records title, couples must simultaneously kiss on the lips for 10 seconds under a sprig of mistletoe. The current record holder is US amusement park, Red Flags, with 839 couples. But Costa Coffee are bidding to steal the Guinness World Records title.
Rochelle Humes said: “We love all things Christmas – especially a cheeky smooch under the mistletoe! This time of year is all about connecting with your loved ones and we’re excited to be part of this massive effort to bring people together.”
The Guinness World Records attempt will be held 6.30pm on 14 December. All participants should arrive from 6:00pm.
Gennaro Pellicia, master taster at Costa Coffee adds: “Christmas is always a special season and, this year, we’ve gone one step further to encourage people to connect – literally. This event is not only about attempting to break a Guinness World Records title, but to help people to take a moment to connect with loved ones over the festive season. We look forward to seeing the turn out – fingers crossed we can claim the title!”
