FanCam captures Grand Slam faces in the crowd

Gigapixel FanCam launched its first ever RBS 6 Nations rugby FanCam, the world’s highest resolution 360-degree interactive image, celebrating Wales winning the Grand Slam in the exciting climax of the RBS 6 Nations against France.

The elation and emotion was captured during the match and fans are now able to find themselves in the 12,000 megapixel interactive image, tagging themselves, sharing and re-living the experience via Facebook and Twitter, in unprecedented focus and detail. http://fans.in3sixty.com/2012/03/17/sixnations/default/

Pre-promotion included a dedicated YouTube video, featuring Rhys Priestland, Justin Tipuric and Leigh Halfpenny explaining the FanCam and driving awareness.

This fan-focused initiative is a collaborative marketing effort by SEI London, SWALEC and the WRU. Ryan Horn, SEI London said: “We are delighted to have secured the first ever RBS Six Nations FanCam, capturing the excitement and drama of this amazing Grand Slam win. It’s fantastic for fans to be able to enjoy, celebrate and re-live this incredible event forever more. The industry leading FanCam delivers a unique social media experience, creating an unforgettable engagement for the fans and an innovative marketing opportunity for brands.”

Gigapixel FanCam is a pioneering technology, enabling a 360 image to be captured in phenomenal clarity, which is then digitally stitched to create an interactive photo. Jonny Petrie, SWALEC head of sponsorship, said: “The supporters played a huge part in Saturday’s victory and we were delighted to be able to mark such a momentous occasion as a Grand Slam. Not only can fans search for themselves in the shot, but they can also tag themselves to be in with a chance of winning some brilliant rugby related prizes so we encourage those who were there on the day to visit http://www.gigapixelfancam.com/fancams/rugby/sixnations/20120317/ to see it, tag it and win it!”
