Field Marketing agency Cosine is declared Carbon Neutral

Cosine (UK) Ltd, a leading field marketing agency, has announced that it has been awarded CarbonNeutral® company certification by reducing its carbon footprint to net zero. This means that Cosine (UK) Ltd can now add real value to its clients by reducing the emissions associated with their sales and marketing activity.

To achieve CarbonNeutral® company status, Cosine (UK) Ltd worked with The CarbonNeutral Company, one of the world’s leading carbon offset and carbon management businesses, to measure and reduce its carbon footprint to net zero. All the emissions relating to the company, including energy consumption, waste and business travel were quantified and then reduced through combining internal changes (for example, increasing recycling, switching from paper to web briefings and implementing improved journey planning) with carbon offsetting. Through offsetting, every tonne of CO2 emitted by Cosine (UK) Ltd is matched by an equivalent amount saved by a project somewhere else in the world. Cosine (UK) Ltd has selected a community reforestation project in Kenya and a biomass to energy project in China.

Nick Jones, CEO, Cosine (UK) Ltd, “We are proud to be demonstrating leadership amongst field marketing agencies in the UK through achievement of CarbonNeutral® company certification. We know that an increasing proportion of our clients are concerned about the environmental credentials of suppliers and because of this we felt that we needed to take direct action to tackle climate change. By taking a net zero position on emissions we have taken the strongest environmental position possible, above and beyond our competitors, and we are now working towards a further 20 per cent emissions per head reduction target over the next three years.” Jones continues, “This will be primarily achieved through driving optimal travel efficiency with our traditional services and developing new greener services including local syndicated field teams and outbound telephone teams for rural coverage and using improved technology to better target field activity. We will also encourage our support centre staff to focus more on reducing electricity usage and recycling.”

Rebecca Fay, marketing director, The CarbonNeutral Company said, “Cosine (UK) Ltd becoming CarbonNeutral® is an important step not only for their business, but for the field marketing industry as a whole. We are always very pleased to see companies taking leadership in their sector and realising the business benefits of taking action to manage their carbon footprint. Cosine is now in an excellent position to also enable their clients to reduce emissions.”
