First Great Western gets globe going to capture hearts and data

British train operator First Great Western has partnered with the UK’s leading staffing solutions, travel retail and experiential specialist Blackjack Promotions for the second year running to bring its successful giant snowglobe back to Paddington station for a data capture drive in the lead up to Christmas.

Beginning on December 15 and running for three days only, passengers travelling through Paddington train station can drop by First Great Western’s giant snowglobe to have their picture taken and printed on a photo postcard onsite for them to take away and share with friends and family, in exchange for their data.

The data capture drive is part of an ongoing effort by First Great Western to encourage members of the public to sign up to the First Great Western Escape newsletter. Before entering the snowglobe, everyone must complete a digital form.

Blackjack Promotions will be providing six members of staff per day, plus a team leader, in First Great Western branded uniform. Staff will be responsible for inputting the customer data on iPads, as well as taking the photographs and printing them onsite.

Adding an extra social layer to the campaign this Christmas, participants will be invited to visit FGWphoto.co.uk to retrieve and share their photograph via social media, using the official hashtag #FGWSnowGlobe.

The activity takes place on December 15-17 between 7am and 7pm each day.

Katie Pacifici, senior account manager, Blackjack Promotions, says: “Following the success of last year’s First Great Western snowglobe – whereby we ended up extending the campaign by another day – I’m delighted that First Great Western are back on board again this year. We’ve upped the game slightly this time around by adding a new social element and we look forward to seeing plenty of sharing activity on Facebook and Twitter.”
