GMR Marketing, an experiential and sponsorship leader, has hired Aliah Berman to serve as global head of diversity, equity and inclusion. With more than 15 years of experience, Berman will play a key role in the agency’s efforts to drive employee engagement and retention, build cultural awareness, promote an inclusive work environment and create culturally-informed strategic business solutions.
Berman joins GMR from Advocate Aurora Health, where she managed and led system-wide efforts to recruit, retain and develop diverse talent across the organization. She developed and implemented strategic diversity and inclusion initiatives including educational courses, pipeline programs and leadership engagement.
“Aliah joins GMR with an impressive background, extensive experience in D&I, and a refreshing perspective on the challenges and opportunities facing today’s organizations,” said Lisa Cieslak, chief financial and business operations officer of GMR Marketing. “As she takes on this new role of lead subject matter expert, consultant and advisor, I am excited for the impact her work and leadership will have on GMR’s continued growth and innovation.”
The agency’s current cultural programs focus on empowering women in the workplace, recognizing and celebrating employee diversity, and giving back to the community. In her new role, Berman will unite these initiatives to increase focus and tighten the relationship between agency culture and client work.
“This work is as important now as ever, and GMR’s passion for prioritizing diversity, equity and inclusion across all areas of the business is inspiring,” said Berman. “I look forward to building on the agency’s existing accomplishments to elevate the role of DE&I strategy in areas such as talent recruitment, client work and employee engagement.”
