Science Museum to build on success at Bluewater

Bluewater is welcoming back the Science Museum for a second year running in the build up to Christmas. The 1,250 sq ft pop-up store will be located on the upper Thames Walk, adjacent to House of Fraser and Early Learning Centre, and be open from October 19 to December 31.

Both entertaining and educational, The Science Museum Shop will help bring science to life for all Bluewater visitors. Family visitors in particular will enjoy the regular in-store science demonstrations and experiments that will take place during half terms and weekends. The store will stock an abundance of gifts and merchandise ready for half term and the festive period.

Commenting on the store’s return, Russell Loveland, portfolio director at Land Securities, said: “We are very pleased to welcome the Science Museum back to Bluewater for a second consecutive year. Their unique and innovative pop-up will capture the imagination of our guests and complement our strategy to deliver an exceptional and immersive experience.”

The Science Museum’s head of learning operations, Kenny Webster, said: “Our new Science Museum pop-up at Bluewater is a great opportunity to connect with families and the UK’s next generation of scientists and engineers. We look forward to inspiring visitors of all ages to get excited about science and hope they will take this excitement home with them to share with family and friends.”

Paul Widgery, group retail manager at the Science Museum, added: “We were once again drawn to Bluewater due to its high footfall, especially in the run up to Christmas. Our return gives us a chance to build on the success from last year and look at how we can continue to deliver other revenue opportunities outside the museum.”

Bluewater’s retail offer is also soon to be joined by Breitling’s standalone store, opening on October 16, an upsized Next, and Nespresso’s first boutique, the first of its kind in the South East.
