Collider launches Autumn crowdfunding round for those in marketing and advertising

The marketing technology startup accelerator Collider has just launched its Collider15 Autumn crowdfunding round, giving advertising and marketing professionals the opportunity to invest in a portfolio of disruptive marketing technology startups from as little as £100.

The Collider15 Autumn fund will invest in 10 startups, who will be selected by an investment panel made up of successful entrepreneurs from the industry, all of whom are investing in the fund themselves, including Collider’s Rose Lewis, We Are Social’s Robin Grant and MessageSpace’s Jag Singh. They will select the 10 from over 250 startups from 37 countries that have applied to be part of Collider’s accelerator programme. Applications range from businesses focusing on image analysis, VR & augmented reality, curated marketplaces, second-screen activation, content monetisation, iBeacons and more.

The Collider15 Autumn crowdfunding round allows individuals to invest as little as £100, spilt across the selected startups – the sort of opportunity that has only been available to institutions and high net-worth individuals in the past. Collider is using the award winning equity crowdfunding platform Seedrs, which is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority, to facilitate the round.

The investment qualifies for SEIS tax relief, which for UK taxpayers effectively means the government covers half of the investment cost, with any profit made on the investments being tax free alongside additional tax relief in the event of any loss.

Investors in the fund will have the opportunity to play an active role in the growth of the 10 selected startups and be invited to join the Collider Investor Club, an elite gathering of marketing and advertising executives and innovators in the tech world.

Rose Lewis, co-founder of collider says “This year’s start-ups applying to Collider represent an amazing opportunity – not only are they the best set of applicants we’ve ever had, but we’ll put them through a highly structured training and coaching programme and connect them to potential corporate customers and larger institutional investors – providing the right environment for them to scale and eventually exit”

Robin Grant, global managing director of We Are Social says; “Collider provides a platform to invest at an early stage in businesses that aim to prosper by disrupting the advertising and marketing landscape. What’s more, it allows you to invest in a tax efficient way, without having to put all of your eggs in one basket. And if you’re up for it, it offers the chance to get involved in the start-up community yourself, alongside the founders and other investors immersed in the sector.”
