Fans and players pose with Aviva Premiership Rugby Trophy at Paddington

Players from Harlequins, London Wasps, Saracens and London Irish have appeared at Paddington station today beside the Aviva Premiership Rugby trophy.

This set piece heralds the London Double-Header, the Heathrow Express-sponsored Aviva Premiership Rugby fixture, covered live on BT Sport, marking the new season’s opening weekend.

On Saturday September 6, London Irish face Harlequins (2.00pm) followed by Saracens versus London Wasps (4.30pm) to help kick off the new Aviva Premiership Rugby campaign.

Will Helu of London Wasps, Charlie Matthews of Harlequins, Chris Wyles of Saracens and Jamie Hagan of London Irish  posed beside the trophy for pictures with fans.

Fans that have their photo with the trophy at Paddington station will be invited to ‘like’ their image on the Heathrow Express Facebook page for a chance to win tickets to the London Double Header (Facebook.com/HeathrowExpress).

Phil Winstanley, rugby director at Premiership Rugby, said: “With just over three weeks to the start of the Aviva Premiership Rugby season the excitement is already building across the country. We have already seen a number of new players sign for Aviva Premiership Rugby teams and some of our clubs declare record season ticket sales so it is clear club rugby in England is booming as we gear up for a massive season.”

Keith Greenfield, managing director of Heathrow Express, said: “We’re thrilled to help get the new Aviva Premiership Rugby season under way. Last year was terrific. We’re hoping for a repeat of that success this year.”
