Infinite Group offer DJ lessons and buzz wire games to promote TomTom at retail conference

Infinite Group used A chart-topping DJ mixing and scratching decks and a competitive buzz wire game to promote TomTom’s products.

Staff from the Swindon-based field marketing agency attended the Dixons Carphone Autumn Retail event to demonstrate the products including the TomTom Bandit camera, TomTom Spark exercise watch and the full TomTom sat nav range.

Dan Thomas, a pro DJ who has performed all over the world and reached number one in China with his track So Sexi, seven years ago, took to the TomTom DJ booth to teach Dixons staff how to mix.

The musical theme also helped promote the Spark exercise watch, which can store up to 3GB of music and features a bespoke 30-minute Ministry of Sound mix called ‘Running Trax’, designed to help improve users’ sporting performance.

The Spark also has a built in memory card allowing users to sync it to their PC to enjoy their favourite running tracks using the wireless headphones TomTom provide within the Spark product.

Alongside the DJ booth the team set up a TomTom Buzz Wire game where they ran a competition for Dixons staff, who were disqualified after ten buzzes.

The event, at the Excel Centre in London on October 7, was a chance for all Dixons Carphone store managers to learn about the latest tech and electronic goods being stocked as they head into the busiest sales period of the year.

While Dixons staff tested their skills on the decks or the buzz wire, Infinite’s TomTom team were able to talk to them and raise awareness of their products’ capabilities.

Ben Springer, TomTom account manager at Infinite Group, said: “Our aim was to educate the Dixons staff about these fantastic products and we wanted to do this in the most fun and interactive way possible.

“While Dixons staff were queueing to take part in the buzz wire game or have a go at the DJ booth, we were able to talk to them about TomTom’s latest developments.

“This will hopefully allow them to more effectively promote, explain and sell the TomTom products in their stores.”
