The Beano menaces its way to intu centres

This summer is set to be full of mischief as The Beano’s chief troublemaker Dennis the Menace visits intu centres across the country. The Beano bonanza is taking over intu shopping centres from Monday 27th July and will run throughout the holidays to surprise customers with pranks, jokes and tricks.

intu is the first shopping centre to work in partnership with DC Thomson and bring Dennis the Menace to life. The Beano will take over centres, entertaining children with arts and crafts, kids’ club activities, prank workshops, and more. There will be something for the whole family including a number of animated author readings from Steven Butler, author of popular The Diaries of Dennis the Menace fiction series and Comic Master Classes delivered by one of The Beano’s cartoonists, Kev Sutherland.

Roger Binks, customer experience director of intu, said: “Kids are going to love The Beano takeover. The Beano is a much loved comic and whether you’re a child or an adult its sense of fun and cheekiness is something we can all relate to. This is intu at its best, creating a one of a kind experience to put smiles on the faces of our customers and ensuring our centres are the place to be all summer long.”

A national competition will run throughout The Beano campaign offering a winner the chance to appear with a friend as characters in the comic by sharing images via Facebook of their very own menaces using #mymenace. After a final round where entrants will be askedto submit a 200 word entry explaining why they deserve to win, a panel from intu and The Beano will announce the winner.
