Agencies sought for Post Office PR roster

The Post Office has announced it is seeking new PR agencies to support the organisation’s ambitious plans to grow as a commercial business with a strong social purpose.

The current roster is due to expire early next year. Opportunities will be available across all sectors including brand awareness, corporate reputation, financial services, travel, telephony and mails, with a view to awarding contracts at the beginning of 2014.

Nina Arnott, head of PR at the Post Office said:

“It is an exciting time for the Post Office as we transform our branches and develop the multi-channel strategy that will help secure the future of our business.

“With over 11,500 branches throughout the UK and over 170 products and services, the Post Office turns over £1bn a year and has a bigger network than all the banks and building societies combined. Around 18million people visit us each week, so this is a fantastic opportunity to work with an important UK organisation and a trusted high street brand.”

With the arrival of products such the new Current Account which sits along-side credit cards, mortgages, broadband and pet insurance, the Post Office is committed to strengthening its position within a range of consumer markets. The business, which has been independent from Royal Mail since April 2012, is visited by around a third of all SMEs every week. Around 99.7% of people live within three miles of their nearest Post Office outlet with over 93% living within a mile.

Arnott continued:

“We would like to hear from ambitious and creative PR agencies which can help us navigate the challenges and exploit the opportunities ahead of the Post Office. Our ideal agencies will have lots of recent big brand experience within our markets but will also understand the unique social role the Post Office plays in the heart of our communities.

“Most importantly, we want to work with people who take pride in being the best at what they do and would be passionate about telling our story.”
